This past weekend, the Green council members and citizen representatives of Pulheim retreated to the Eifel for a productive and inspiring strategy meeting. As our group has grown significantly since the last municipal election, it was the perfect opportunity to reflect on our progress, refine our goals, and recharge our energy for the important work ahead.
One of the key focuses of the retreat was exploring how we can better implement Green policies and bring them to life for the people of Pulheim. While we’ve made strides in advancing sustainability and inclusivity, we recognize that translating ideas into concrete action often presents challenges. It was heartening to see such a wide range of creative and practical approaches emerge during our discussions.
The weekend was marked by collaboration, constructive dialogue, and a shared commitment to making Pulheim greener and more forward-thinking. Our co-leaders, Sylvia Steilen and Thomas Roth, summed it up best: “We’ve returned to Pulheim with a big suitcase full of ideas, concepts, motivation, and energy after a hardworking and very constructive weekend. We’re looking forward to the tasks ahead!”
The retreat wasn’t without moments of honest critique. We openly discussed where we could improve—whether in communication, community engagement, or ensuring transparency in our processes. Acknowledging these areas for growth is essential for building trust and ensuring that our policies truly reflect the needs and aspirations of Pulheim’s residents.
For me, the weekend was a powerful reminder of the strength of teamwork and the importance of stepping back to refocus on our mission. The ideas and enthusiasm that emerged from this retreat will undoubtedly shape our work in the months to come, from tackling climate initiatives to fostering a more inclusive Pulheim.
As we move forward, I want to emphasize that our door is always open to the community. Your input, ideas, and feedback are invaluable as we work to make Pulheim a place where sustainability, innovation, and equality thrive. Together, we can ensure that the Green vision for Pulheim becomes a reality.
The tasks ahead are significant, but so is our determination. I’m excited to see how the plans developed during our retreat will take shape and contribute to a greener, stronger Pulheim. Thank you for your trust and support—let’s continue building a brighter future together.
