The motto “Choose Courage” resonates deeply with me, especially as we approach the critical EU elections. In a time when fear and division are being weaponized by far-right groups across Europe, #ChoosingCourage means standing up for what we believe in, even when it’s difficult. #ChoosingCourage means embracing hope and action instead of succumbing to apathy or fear.
Courage isn’t just about grand gestures. It’s about everyday actions, having honest conversations, standing against hate, and showing up when it matters most. This is the kind of courage we need in politics right now. Too often, I’ve seen leaders shy away from bold decisions, opting for half-measures or excuses instead of addressing the real challenges we face. Climate change, social inequality, and threats to democracy require immediate, decisive action, not endless debates or postponed promises.
But criticism alone isn’t enough. What gives me hope is seeing people across Europe who are already choosing courage. Activists, community leaders, and voters are pushing for a future that prioritizes sustainability, fairness, and inclusion. These are the individuals who inspire me to believe that change is possible, even when the odds seem stacked against us.
#ChoosingCourage also means rejecting complacency. When we vote, we’re not just choosing representatives; we’re choosing the values and direction we want for Europe. It’s a chance to stand against those who promote division and hate, and to support leaders who are ready to tackle the climate crisis, fight for equality, and protect democratic values.
I’ll admit, there are times when it feels overwhelming. The challenges we face are immense, and it’s easy to feel powerless. But I remind myself that courage isn’t about having no fear, it’s about acting in spite of it. Every step we take, no matter how small, moves us closer to the future we want.
To anyone reading this, I want to encourage you to #ChooseCourage in your own way. Maybe it’s by voting in the upcoming elections, by having a conversation with a friend or family member about what’s at stake, or by taking action in your community. Every choice matters. Together, we can show that fear and division don’t have the final word.
Let’s make courage the foundation of our politics and our future. Let’s build a Europe that reflects the best of what we can achieve when we act with hope, determination, and unity. The time to choose courage is now. Let’s not let it pass us by.
